Sales Tax Exemptions
BloomNation offers flexibility for setting sales tax exemption. Exemptions can be applied in four distinct ways:
-
Transactions
- Point of Sale
- Florist to florist
-
Products
-
House Accounts
-
Individual customers
Customers
Some organizations (like churches, schools, hospitals and non-profits) are exempt based on their status. Others (like caterers or event planners) are exempt because they are resellers who will collect tax later in the process.
You can offer tax exempt status to qualifying customers by collecting their tax exempt ID and adding it to their customer record. Once this is complete, any orders placed by them or by you on their behalf, will proceed without sales tax being collected.

Point of Sale
BloomNation’s Point of Sale allows you to mark any product in a transaction as exempt from taxes. This applies to all types of orders: Delivery, Pickup, In-Store, Quick Charge, Subscriptions and Invoices.
Unlike with customers where the exemption is always applied, transactions need to be marked as exempt on each occurrence.

Florist to Florist
Florists who would like to receive orders from other florists can set their reseller number so the receiving florist knows not to charge any tax on your order.

House Accounts
House Accounts let you extend billing privileges to trusted customers so they can place orders and pay later. House accounts also offer the ability to be set as exempt from sales tax.
This allows you for more flexibility: house account orders can be exempt, even if regular credit card orders for that same customer are taxable.

Products
Some products you sell might be non-taxable like food. When you add a product to your catalog you can exclude it from sales tax. All purchases made using this product will by default not collect sales tax.
(Note: The BloomNation Point of Sale allows you to override this if you choose.)
