How to Issue, Manage, and Redeem Store Credit

Video Walkthrough – Coming Soon

Overview

Store Credit lets you issue, manage, and redeem credit for your customers—directly from your POS and website. Use it for refunds, service recovery, promotions, or manual adjustments. It works a lot like a gift card, but it’s built into your customer profile and checkout flow.

How It Works

  • You can add credit to a customer’s profile, transfer it between customers, or adjust balances at any time.
  • Customers can redeem credit at checkout in POS and on your website.
  • If the credit doesn’t cover the full order total, the system will prompt for a split payment (credit + another method).
  • Refunds can be issued back to Store Credit (full or partial), so customers can use the credit on a future order.

How to Set Up Store Credit

  1. Go to Dashboard → My Website → Store Credit.
  2. Toggle Enable Store Credit on to activate Store Credit for your shop.
  3. (Optional) Toggle Automatically Apply at Checkout to have available credit apply during checkout by default. Customers or staff can remove it before placing the order.
  4. Review and edit your Terms & Conditions. This text appears in the customer account and in credit-related emails.
  5. Click Save Changes.

Pausing Store Credit: If you disable Store Credit later, all balances remain saved and visible, but customers will not be able to use credit until you re-enable it.

Using Store Credit in POS

Open a customer profile and go to Loyalty & Credit to view and manage Store Credit.

View & Manage Balances

  • Balance & History: See current balance, last activity, and a full transaction log (issues, uses, refunds, transfers, adjustments).
  • Adjust Balance: Add or remove credit with a note (reason appears in the customer’s activity history).
  • Transfer Credit: Move credit to another existing customer (useful for family/household accounts).
  • Internal Notes: Add context only your team can see.
  • Notify Customer: Send an email letting them know credit was issued or updated.

Checkout

  • Store Credit appears as a payment method during checkout.
  • If credit covers the order in full, it can be applied directly.
  • If credit covers only part of the total, the POS will prompt a split payment for the remainder.
  • When Automatically Apply at Checkout is enabled, available credit pre-fills at checkout; it can be removed before placing the order.

Refunds to Store Credit

  • You can refund an order back to Store Credit—either full or partial.
  • Choose Refund to Store Credit in the refund flow; the amount is added to the customer’s credit balance and will appear in their activity history.
  • Customers receive an email when credit is added through a refund (if notifications are enabled).

Customer Experience (Website)

  • Customers must be logged in to use Store Credit on your website.
  • If auto-apply is on, available credit will apply at checkout; customers can remove it before placing the order.
  • Customers can see their Store Credit balance and transaction history in My Account → Store Credit, along with your Terms & Conditions.

FAQs

Can I use Store Credit for part of a purchase and another method for the rest?

Yes. If credit doesn’t cover the full amount, the POS will prompt a split payment so you can combine Store Credit with card, cash, or other supported methods.

Can I issue refunds directly to Store Credit?

Yes. During the refund flow, choose Refund to Store Credit (full or partial). The amount is added to the customer’s credit balance and logged in their history.

Do customers need to log in on the website to use Store Credit?

Yes. Customers must be logged into their account to apply Store Credit online.

What happens if I disable Store Credit?

Balances remain saved and visible in customer accounts, but customers will not be able to use Store Credit until you re-enable it.

Why can’t I add an additional charge to an order that was paid entirely with Store Credit?

If an order is fully covered by Store Credit, there’s no remaining payment method on file to charge against. In those cases, the system disables additional charges.
