Add a Service Fee in BloomNation POS

Overview

BloomNation POS allows you to optionally add a Service Fee to eligible card payments. The fee is calculated as a percentage of the order total.

This feature applies to in-store (POS) transactions and event/invoice payments only. It does not apply to website orders.

Some florists choose to use this feature to offset card processing costs. If you decide to do so, you are responsible for ensuring the fee complies with all applicable laws and card network requirements.

Important Compliance Notice

Service fees on card payments may be regulated by federal law, state law, and card network rules. Requirements vary by state and may change over time.

BloomNation provides the technical ability to add a service fee, but you are solely responsible for determining whether you are eligible to apply a fee and for complying with all applicable regulations in your area.

How to Enable the Service Fee

Log in to your BloomNation Dashboard.
Go to My Shop.
Select POS Settings.
Locate the Create Order Settings section.
Toggle on Service Fee.
Review and confirm the compliance acknowledgment.

You must confirm that you understand and accept responsibility before enabling the feature.

Configure Your Service Fee

After enabling the feature, you can customize:

Fee Label – The name that appears on the order and receipt (for example, “Service Fee”).
Fee Percentage – The percentage applied to eligible card payments.

You can also choose whether to:

Automatically apply the service fee by default on POS orders, or
Leave it unchecked and manually apply the fee per transaction.

The feature is turned off by default.

How It Works in POS

The service fee is available when an eligible card payment method is selected.
If auto-apply is enabled, the fee will be added automatically.
The fee can be manually removed (if auto-apply is on) or manually added (if auto-apply is off).
The service fee appears as a separate line item on the order and receipt.

If a non-card payment method (such as cash or check) is selected, the service fee will not apply.

How It Works for Invoices

The service fee can apply when an invoice is paid using an eligible card.
The fee is calculated as a percentage of the total.
It appears as a separate line item.

Can I set a flat dollar service fee?

No. The service fee must be a percentage of the order total.

Does this apply to website orders?

No. The service fee applies only to POS and invoice transactions.

Can I disable the service fee at any time?

Yes. You can turn the feature off at any time in POS Settings.

Does BloomNation notify card networks on my behalf?

No. If notification or registration is required in your area, you are responsible for completing those steps.

Will the service fee appear on receipts?

Yes. The service fee appears as a separate line item.
